Alarm Setpoints

Alarm types

Standard alarms

Each measurable (channel) on each device has predefined set points. Lower and upper bound.

Profile alarms

Profile alarms are alarms that are raised when a measured waveform exceeds a predefined waveform profile envelope. Waveform profiles are automatically generated by saving representative waveforms and using a training set of at least five waveforms to define the profile against which waveforms are evaluated.

Profile alarms are only raised if the setting is checked.

Process alarms

A process alarm is an alarm that can be raised during a predefined engineering process. Relationships between several measured variables can define the conditions under which an alarm is raised. For example, a mill may have alternate crushing and washing cycles. Standard alarms would be spuriously raised if they were uniformly used throughout. Process alarms cater for different alarm conditions in each cycle.
